Frequently asked questions
Where do I start?
The first time you open the app, a 3-step introduction walks you through it. After a short explanation of the concept, give each person a name — up to two on the free plan — then check off the ones you want from a list of common chores. When you want to plan ahead, open the Calendar tab, tap a day, and add to it with the + button (up to 91 days ahead, or about three months, from today).
How is the assignee for a chore decided?
You can pick a member when you schedule a chore, or leave it “Undecided.” Undecided chores stand out on Today, so you can still settle it together on the day. We haven’t built a fairness score or a leaderboard. Making the next chore easy to schedule matters more here than getting a perfect split from the start.
I want chores to repeat every week
Choose the days it repeats when you schedule a chore, and it’s generated automatically from today up to 91 days ahead (about three months). Editing or deleting always asks whether you mean “just this one” or “this and every one after,” so changing a single occurrence is safe. To skip just one occurrence that came from a repeat, choose “Skip this one” instead of deleting it — that keeps the row in place so the next occurrence still gets generated.
What can I do with the Calendar?
The monthly calendar brings together what you’ve done on past days and what’s coming up. Tap a day to see its chores and records in a list below, and add to that day with the + button. The last 30 days are free to view; anything further back needs Kajidori Pro, the same limit as viewing records anywhere else. You can schedule up to 91 days (about three months) ahead.
Does the timer keep running in the background?
Yes. Elapsed time is calculated from the moment you started, so closing the app, force-quitting it, or restarting your phone doesn’t lose anything — reopening the app brings the running session back automatically with the elapsed time intact. If a session runs past 24 hours, a notice appears (it is never ended automatically).
I want to correct the actual time on a completed record
You can edit the actual minutes by hand on the record screen. The actual time always carries forward into the next estimate. If you mistyped it, fix the time or delete the record.
How is the next estimate calculated?
A chore with no history uses the estimate you set when you created it. After one or two records, it becomes a weighted average of that estimate and what actually happened; from three records on, it switches to the average of the three most recent.
When do notifications arrive?
A morning notification (8:00 AM by default) lists how many chores are due today and their total estimated time — just a count and a total time, never the chores themselves. Nothing arrives on a day with nothing to report. Change the time or turn it on or off any time in Settings.
What happens when I archive a member?
Any chore they were assigned to from today onward reverts to Undecided. Past records keep their name exactly as it was, so the history of who did what is never lost. The last remaining member can’t be archived.
What happens when I delete (archive) a chore?
An archived chore stops appearing in new schedules, but anything already scheduled for the future can still be run as normal. Past records keep the chore’s name exactly as it was.
Does my data sync across devices?
It doesn’t. Members, chores, schedules, records, and notes are stored only on the device you use. With Kajidori Pro, you can export and import as a JSON file from Settings. The exported file carries member and chore names as you wrote them, so use it to move to another device or to keep a copy. Importing replaces your current data (your existing data is set aside automatically first).
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Members, chores, schedules, and records stored on your device are removed with it. If you want to keep them, export from Settings > Data (Pro) first.
I want to delete all my data
“Delete all data” in Settings clears everything on your device at once. It can’t be undone, so export a copy first with Pro if you might want it later.
I’d like to try it with sample data
Choose “Add sample data” under Settings > Data and it fills in 4 chores, 14 records across the last 14 days including today, and two weeks of upcoming schedule so you can try things out right away. Choose “Remove sample data” from the same place to take it out again — only the sample chores, schedules, and records go, and any run you timed yourself on a sample chore stays. The 4 sample chores don’t count toward the free 15-chore limit.
About Kajidori Pro
What does Pro unlock?
Five things.
- Add members up to 6
- Create as many chores as you like
- Look back through your full history
- Switch to Dark or Automatic appearance
- Export and import your data as JSON
What does the free plan include?
| Free | Kajidori Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Members | 2 | 6 |
| Chores | 15 | Unlimited |
| History | Last 30 days | Everything |
| Appearance | Light only | Dark / Automatic |
| JSON export/import | — | Yes |
Reaching a limit never deletes or hides anything you already have — it only stops you from adding more. Records older than 30 days stay on your device the whole time and come back into view the moment you’re on Pro.
Everything else — scheduling and repeats up to three months ahead, the calendar, the timer, records and estimate learning, the last 30 days of history, notifications, and deleting all data — is free.
What does it cost?
¥300 per month or ¥3,000 per year in Japan (prices vary by country or region; the App Store shows your local price). The yearly plan costs exactly ten months at the monthly rate. There is no free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The renewal charge is taken within 24 hours of the end of the period.
I purchased but Pro isn’t showing
Try “Restore purchases” on the Pro screen. You need to be signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you purchased with. If it still doesn’t appear, please get in touch.
I want to cancel my subscription
Cancellation happens on the App Store side. Open Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone, choose Kajidori, and select “Cancel Subscription.” The same screen opens from “Manage subscription” under Settings > Plan in the app.
After cancelling, Pro features stay available until the period you have paid for ends. Cancelling on its own does not produce a prorated refund (see “I’d like a refund” below).
I want to switch between monthly and yearly
Switch from the same Settings > your name > Subscriptions screen. The two Kajidori plans sit at the same level, so a switch takes effect at your next renewal date — it does not swap immediately, and no prorated refund is involved. Until then, the plan you are paying for continues.
What happens to my members and data if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your members, chores, and every schedule and record stay exactly as they were. Only the five things above stop: you can no longer add members or chores beyond the free limits, the appearance reverts to Light, and records older than 30 days drop out of view (the records themselves stay, and come back the moment you subscribe again). Subscribe again and it all comes back as it was.
I want to check my renewal date
Open Settings > your name > Subscriptions to see the next renewal date and amount. Auto-renewal continues unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
I’d like a refund
Payments are handled by Apple, and refund decisions are Apple’s. Please apply at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to process refunds ourselves.
