FukuMeguri ("the App") is provided by TempuraApps ("we"). This policy explains how the App handles user information.
1. Information we collect
The App does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number. Everything you record or enter — areas, shops, the days you visited, wishlist items, brands, tags, photos, notes, opening hours, favourites, links, your home station and the like — is stored only on your device, and we never transmit or hold it automatically. The only exceptions are the usage measurement described in section 3 and the Pro purchase processing described in section 4, each of which sends a limited set of information to external services. Neither includes your name or the content you record or enter, and neither can identify you personally. Separately, when you display a map, search for a place or a station, or have a route calculated from your saved home station to a shop, search terms or coordinates are sent to Apple for that operation alone (section 5). We do not keep your search terms or the map area you were viewing. (The coordinates of a shop or your home station are, of course, stored on your device as data you saved yourself.)
Records do leave your device when you set that in motion yourself: when you use the share or export features to hand parts of them — shop details, photos, a backup file — to another app or service, and when you open a link you saved on a wishlist item or a brand and are taken to that site. In either case, what happens next is governed by whatever service you sent them to or went to.
2. Accounts and network use
No account registration is required to use the App. The data you record or enter stays on your device, and we do not transmit it externally on our own. The App does, however, communicate with a limited set of external services for the usage measurement described below (section 3) and for purchase processing (section 4). In addition, when you use the map features, search terms or coordinates are sent to Apple (see section 5).
3. Usage analytics (PostHog)
To improve quality and features, the App measures anonymous usage with the analytics service PostHog. What is collected is the type of action taken — installing, updating and launching the App, leaving it and coming back, using a feature, opening the paid plan screen, purchasing a paid plan (monthly or annual, and whether it went through), restoring a purchase — together with statistical information such as counts and categories that accompany it.
Examples of those counts and categories: when you save a shop, whether it has coordinates, how many tags and brands it has, and whether it has a photo; when you log a visit, your running total of visits; when you import a backup, how many areas, shops, brands and wishlist items it contained. These are numbers and yes/no values only. We do not send the content of your records — shop names, notes, photos — nor personal information such as your name or email address.
Technical information automatically attached by PostHog may also be included: the App version, your OS type and version, your device type, and the App's display language. Your time zone is stripped before sending, because it can be used to infer your approximate region. IP addresses are configured to be discarded on the analytics side, and we have specified that no region or location be inferred from them. Finer locations such as your city or your coordinates are never collected. None of this is intended to identify a specific individual, and none of it is linked to an account. The data is stored in the EU region.
Each record sent carries an anonymous identifier created for that installation of the App. It exists so that actions from the same installation can be read as one thread. It is not tied to your name, email address, account, or any hardware identifier provided by the device, and we do not use it to identify you. Deleting and reinstalling the App produces a new one.
We have no way to connect that identifier to you as a person. For that reason we cannot act on requests to retrieve or delete one user's data individually. If you wish to stop the measurement entirely, please delete the App; nothing is sent after it is removed.
The App does not serve advertising or perform advertising tracking (IDFA and similar) of any kind. Nor do we use the information collected for advertising purposes, or provide or sell it to third parties.
4. Purchases (RevenueCat)
Purchases and restores of the App's paid features (FukuMeguri Pro) are handled through Apple's App Store, and we use the subscription infrastructure service RevenueCat to manage purchases and entitlement status. Information such as your purchase status is therefore processed by RevenueCat. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled by Apple and are never received by us. Purchases are managed under an anonymous identifier and are not linked to personal information such as your name or email address. Please note that RevenueCat is a service provided by a company based in the United States.
5. Maps and location (Apple's map services)
The App's map display, place and station search, and route calculation use Apple's map services (MapKit). Search terms, names or coordinates are sent to Apple, and handled under Apple's privacy policy, in these cases. None of it passes through our servers; we neither receive it nor store it on our servers.
- Displaying a map (the area currently in view)
- Searching by address, shop name, or station name (the terms you type)
- Opening a shop's page once you have saved a home station (the coordinates of that station and of the shop, used to estimate driving time and distance)
- Tapping "Open in Maps" or "See transit route in Maps" to hand a place to Apple's Maps app (the name and coordinates shown for that place; with the transit route, the name and coordinates of your saved home station are passed alongside it)
Only if you grant permission, the App also uses your device's current location. It is used for two things: showing your current position on the map, and recentring the map on where you are. Everything else — browsing the map, dropping a pin by hand, searching by address, shop name or station name, and seeing an estimated travel time — works without the permission. The home station is chosen by searching for a station name too, and needs no location permission. Your location is used on the device as a starting point for display and map handling only; it is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. You can change the permission at any time in your device's Settings.
6. Data backup
The App can export your recorded data as a file (in JSON format). An exported file is placed in the location you choose and is under your control. We do not access it.
7. Provision to third parties
We do not provide or sell your information to third parties for advertising purposes. Information sent to the external services described in sections 3 and 4 (PostHog and RevenueCat) for measurement and purchase processing is handled under each service's own privacy policy.
8. Deleting your data
Data stored on your device can be erased using the App's delete and reset features, or by deleting the App itself.
9. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as features are added or changed. If a change is significant, we will announce it on this page.
