We normally reply within two to three business days. When reporting a problem, it helps if you include your iOS version, your device model, and the steps that reproduce it.
Frequently asked questions
My walk stops being recorded partway through
Check that location access is set to "While Using the App" under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > MichiAruki. Recording is designed to continue while the screen is off, but iOS may suspend an app to save power. Turning off Low Power Mode, and avoiding other location-heavy apps while you walk, makes recording more reliable.
Can I put the phone in my pocket with the screen off?
Yes. Once you start a walk, location use continues with the screen off and your distance and route keep building. It continues until you stop recording, so please tap "End walk" when your walk is over.
Do I have to allow location access to use the app?
No. The covered-area map, spots, past walks, and settings all work without it. Location access is needed to record a new walk, to suggest destinations near you, to sort spots by distance, and to jump to your current location on the map. You can change the permission at any time in Settings.
Is my recorded data synced across devices?
No. Your walks, routes, covered-area map, favourite spots, and notes are all stored only on your device. To move them to a new device, use the export feature in Settings to save a file (JSON format) and import it on the new device.
Is where I walk ever sent to a server?
No. Location data and routes stay on your device. The exceptions are showing a map and destination search: the visible area, or your search terms when you look for a spot such as a park or café, are sent to Apple's map service. That does not pass through our servers and we do not store it. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Your walks, covered-area map, spots, and notes stored on the device are erased along with it. If you want to keep anything, export it as a file from Settings before deleting.
I would like to try the app without going for a walk
Tap "Try it with sample data" on the last onboarding page, or use Settings > Data > Add sample data, to load sample walks and try every screen. Sample data can be removed again from the same screen.
About MichiAruki Pro
What does Pro unlock?
Redrawing your daily direction without limits (until all eight directions are used), no cap on saved spots or areas, monthly and yearly progress, and a choice of five color themes. Drawing a direction itself is always free, once per day. Without Pro you can still save 10 spots and 3 areas, and there is no restriction on walk records, the walked map, the calendar, or export.
I purchased Pro but it is not active
Try "Restore purchases" in the app. You need to be signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to purchase. If it still does not activate, please contact us at the address above.
I want to cancel my subscription
Cancellation is handled by the App Store. Open Settings > your name > Subscriptions, select MichiAruki, and choose "Cancel Subscription". "Manage subscription" in the app opens the same screen.
After cancelling, Pro features remain available until the period you have already paid for ends. Partial refunds are not issued.
I want to check my renewal date
Under Settings > your name > Subscriptions you can see the next renewal date and amount. Auto-renewal continues unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
I would like a refund
Payment is handled by Apple, and refund decisions are Apple's to make. Please apply at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to process refunds ourselves.
Requirements
iPhone running iOS 18.0 or later. iPad is not supported. The app is available in Japanese and English.
