About the app · Support · 日本語
OshiMachi ("the App") is provided by TempuraApps ("we"). This policy explains how the App handles user information.
1. Information we collect
The App does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number. Everything you enter or record — towns, photos, ratings, notes, your workplace, and so on — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers or those of any third party. There are three exceptions: the usage analytics described in section 3, the purchase processing described in section 4, and the map, place search, and route lookup features described in section 5. The first two send only a limited set of information to external services; neither includes your name nor the content you entered or recorded, and neither can identify you personally. For the third, the search terms you type — town names, areas, your workplace — are sent to Apple; we neither receive nor store them.
2. Accounts and network access
No account is required to use the App. The data you enter stays on your device and is not sent anywhere. The App does communicate with a small number of external services for the analytics described in section 3 and the purchase processing described in section 4. In addition, when you use map features, search terms and location-related requests are sent to Apple (see section 5).
3. Usage analytics (PostHog)
To improve quality and features, the App measures anonymous usage with the analytics service PostHog. What we collect is the kind of action taken — app launches, features used, opening the paid plan screen, purchasing a paid plan (monthly or annual, and whether it went through), restoring a purchase — together with statistical information such as counts and categories. Rating values you assigned to a record are included as well, such as the Livability rating you gave a town. We do not send personal information such as your name or email address, nor the content you entered or recorded (town names, notes, photos, and so on).
Technical information automatically attached by PostHog may also be included: the app version, the operating system type and version, the device type, and the app's display language. Time zone is stripped before sending, because it can suggest an approximate region. IP addresses are configured to be discarded on the analytics side, and we have specified that no region or location be inferred from them. Finer locations such as your city or your coordinates are never collected. None of this is intended to identify a specific individual, and it is not linked to any account. Data is stored in the EU region.
Each record sent carries an anonymous identifier created for that installation of the App. It exists so that actions from the same installation can be read as one thread. It is not tied to your name, email address, account, or any hardware identifier provided by the device, and we do not use it to identify you. Deleting and reinstalling the App produces a new one.
We have no way to connect that identifier to you as a person. For that reason we cannot act on requests to retrieve or delete one user's data individually. If you wish to stop the measurement entirely, please delete the App; nothing is sent after deletion.
The App shows no advertising and performs no ad tracking (IDFA or otherwise). We do not use the collected information for advertising, and we do not provide or sell it to third parties.
4. Purchases (RevenueCat)
Purchases and restores of the paid features (OshiMachi Pro) are handled through Apple's App Store, and we use the billing infrastructure service RevenueCat to manage purchase and subscription status. As a result, information such as your entitlement status is processed by RevenueCat. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled by Apple and are never received by us. Purchases are managed under an anonymous identifier and are not linked to personal information such as your name or email address. RevenueCat is a service operated by a company based in the United States.
5. Maps and directions (Apple Maps services)
Map display, place search, and route lookup in the App use Apple's map services (MapKit). When you use these features, search terms and location-related requests are sent to Apple and handled in accordance with Apple's privacy policy. We neither receive nor store their contents.
6. Backing up your data
The App can export your records to a file (JSON format). The exported file is written to a destination you choose and remains under your control. We do not access it.
7. Disclosure to third parties
We do not provide or sell your information to third parties for advertising purposes. The information sent to the external services described in sections 3 and 4 (PostHog and RevenueCat) is processed in accordance with each service's own privacy policy.
8. Deleting your data
Data stored on your device can be erased using the delete and reset features inside the App, or by deleting the App itself.
9. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as features are added or changed. Significant changes will be announced on this page.
